The hosts were restricted to little clear-cut opportunities in the opening stages before breaking the deadlock through Hannah Davison’s header from a corner in the first half.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win Thomson was delighted with the collective performance and the patience they showed throughout as his side made it three wins in a row.
He said: “ I thought the performance individually was great, and collectively it was fantastic as well, it was a difficult game and we knew it would be.
“What we are finding now is that teams are setting up that way against us and to our credit we have become very comfortable with it now, we know teams are going to sit in against us.
“They showed great patience, and real quality was starting to come through, to break Hibs down tonight and score four goals, I am extremely proud of the girls.
“The manager was happy with the variation the Light Blues showed in their play as they made their pressure count through their first half goal before showing their dominance in the second 45 minutes.
He continued: “We have got to have trust and faith in what we are about, but the girls really mixed their play up tonight, which is something we have been lacking a bit.
“We stretched them and they camped in, then we managed to get the goal when they were dominating the ball a bit.
“I am delighted overall with the full 90 minutes never mind the second half.”
Thomson heaped praise on Kirsty Howat as the striker produced two second half goals to put the game beyond any doubt.
He added: “Kirsty is playing with real fire in her belly, she is hungry and such a joy to work with, she is good amongst the group, and we have said that part of our strength is what we are all about.
“We are honest with each other daily in training, and I think you could see that tonight on the park.
“I am extremely proud of the fight that we showed tonight, the demand that they have started to put on each other individually in the games shone through.”
The manager also highlighted the set piece goal that made the difference on the night and says it important to use those opportunities when mixing up their game.
Giving further praise to defender Hannah Davison who scored twice and was part of the backline that kept another clean sheet.
He said: “It is something that we have looked at because teams that are similar to Hibs tonight, their tactic is to sit in and fill areas of the park, that when handle the ball the way we did that we accumulate so many corners and free kicks it is important that we try and exploit those situations.“
Hannah is such an athletic player, she is quick and can jump, and the deliveries from Tessel Middag at set-pieces we are always going to be a threat there in those situations in the game.“
But the team performance came through, and that started by each individual doing their job and having a hunger and desire to win that game.”
