Second-half goals from Kirsty Howat and Kayla McCoy secured the win at Pittodrie as Rangers continued their unbeaten run in the league.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Thomson said: “It was another good performance and we had to work for it. Every team in the league is getting a lot better and a lot more organised and certainly that young side of Aberdeen performed really well tonight in front of a great crowd.
“Our girls were really patient in our build-up, we were in total control of the game for 90 minutes but we had to wait until the second-half to get two goals.”
Thomson was pleased with the desire from the squad as they remained patient to break down Aberdeen in front of a strong home crowd.
He continued: “There is an absolute desire to fulfil our potential. We have got ourselves in a position where we have had to earn it.
“At the start of the season we were scoring for fun and now as the season has gone on it is becoming increasingly more difficult to get chances. If we are going to be hypercritical of ourselves tonight we have created a lot of chances and probably should be scoring more goals however, that is the nature of football.
“Credit to Aberdeen as they were well organised and had a good structure defensively so I am really pleased with the performance and the attitude of the girls, it was spot-on.”
Next up in the league is Hearts at Rangers Training Centre on Sunday and Thomson says focus now turns to that fixture.
“We just keep dealing with each game as it comes so we will get on the bus, we will fuel ourselves up and we'll get back down the road,” he continued.
“We'll start our recovery process and the backroom staff will start looking at the analysis viewpoint on Hearts and we'll put our game plan together and we'll go again."
