The goalkeeper’s mind would have been forgiven for wandering towards thoughts of a penalty shootout when Clyde levelled with four minutes remaining, but the young Gers were indebted to Alex Lowry who netted deep into stoppage time to seal the side’s place in the next round.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, Munn said: “It was cup football and we’re into the next round, which was the aim of the game.
“We’re happy that we’re in the next round. It was a tough game that we had to go through, and going down to ten men doesn’t help.
“We had to be resilient throughout. We went 2-1 up and they equalised with not very long left.
“It’s very, very tough with ten men to score a third and win the game, so we’re delighted as a team.
“We were controlled in the first half and in charge of the game, albeit it doesn’t win you football games.
“The message at half-time was to show more personality in the final third and be a bit cleaner with our final pass. I thought we were far better in that aspect in the second half.”
Clyde certainly put a young Gers side under pressure with their long throw-ins and deep corner-kick routines.
And with a man advantage, the pendulum appeared to swing in the League Two side’s direction with minutes remaining.
However, Munn says he was delighted with the response that the side showed to playing with a numerical disadvantage and is now eyeing a deep run in the competition.
He added: “The set-pieces? It’s the good thing about playing against senior sides, whether it’s Championship, League One or League Two.
“At this level, they always put the ball in the box and put you under pressure, and I thought we dealt with it well tonight.
“Clyde done that well tonight and they played a good game, but we dealt with it well.
“It was just about getting through tonight and seeing who we get it in the next round. Now we go there and try to win again, taking it step by step.”
