This will be Livingston’s 21st visit to Ibrox on league duty with the record to date following a particular pattern. The first home encounter ended in a goalless draw in August 2001 before the Light Blues recorded victories in the next eight home league games. Another draw followed in March 2015, this time 1-1 in the Championship, before another eight consecutive home wins. Livingston almost recorded their first victory at Ibrox in October 2022 only for John Lundstram to score a last-minute equaliser with the Light Blues recording their 17th home league victory in the fixture in the first game between the sides this season in August.
The 4-0 victory when the sides met in August at Ibrox equalled the biggest margin of victory in the fixture, previously recorded in August 2004 when a double from Stephen Hughes along with goals from Dado Prso and Shota Arveladze gave Rangers the points. This was the sixth time that the Light Blues have hit four in the fixture with the first time, in December 2002, also being the game which recorded the highest number of goals in a match between the sides to date, as Gers ran out 4-3 winners.
The fixture in August was also notable for being only the second time that four Rangers players had scored in the same league game against Livingston with new signings Sam Lammers, Danilo, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell all getting their first competitive goals for the club on the day. The only previous occasion when four different players scored in the same game came in November 2004 when Peter Lovenkrands, Nacho Novo, Steven Thompson and Hamed Namouchi were all on target in a 4-1 victory at Almondvale.
The penalty scored by James Tavernier when the sides met in West Lothian in November meant that the Rangers captain is now his side’s top scorer in league meetings between the teams, having scored six goals in the fixture, one more than Shota Arveladze, Dado Prso, Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield. He is also tied with Morelos as top scorer in all competitive matches against Livingston, although only one of his strikes, his first in September 2019, has come at Ibrox.
