The winger was on target with the only goal of the game in the 85th minute as the Light Blues’ persistence paid off in Edinburgh.
Malky Thomson named three changes to his side from Thursday evening’s Old Firm victory, with Jenna Fife, Kirsty Maclean and Lizzie Arnot all returning to the starting line-up.
Victoria Esson missed out through injury, while Chelsea Cornet and Emma Watson were on the bench at Meadowbank.
Rangers started in Edinburgh with Fife in goal and a back four of Maddie Nolf, Hannah Davison, Kathryn Hill and Rachel McLauchlan.
Tessel Middag and Sam Kerr were joined in midfield by Kirsty MacLean, with Lizzie Arnot, Brogan Hay and Kirsty Howat completing this afternoon’s line-up.
Rangers looked to get on the front foot early on in Edinburgh as Lizzie Arnot’s cross met Brogan Hay at the back post inside the opening two minutes but the winger was unable to keep her effort on target as it drifted over the bar.
At the other end, Brooke Nunn whipped a cross into the box from the left in search of Lia Tweedie but she was unable to get a connection on the cross as Jenna Fife gathered.
Rachel McLauchlan saw a low drilled strike blocked well by defender Poppy Lawson as Gers continued to search for an opening at Meadowbank.
Malky Thomson’s were seeing a lot of the ball in the opening stages but were unable to really test Haland in the Hibernian goal as the half-time break edged closer.
Kirsty Maclean tried a shot from distance which was pushed away by the goalkeeper as the hosts continued to hold firm at the back.
Jenna Fife cleared a Hibs corner as Ellis Notely whipped a dangerous ball into the box, before Kirsty Howat had a shot saved at the other end as Sam Kerr played her through.
With less than five minutes to the break, Rangers were piling the pressure on the home side with Haland producing a fantastic save at full stretch to deny Sam Kerr an opening goal in Edinburgh as she struck a left-footed shot across goal.
Into the second-half, Kerr had another opportunity early in the half as she headed just wide from a Brogan Hay cross.
On the hour mark, Malky Thomson made two changes to his team with Megan Bell and Emma Watson introduced in place of Kirsty Howat and Brogan Hay.
Tessel Middag delivered a dangerous ball into the box from a free-kick as the Light Blues continued to search for a breakthrough but Hannah Davison and Kathryn Hill were unable to get a touch to turn it goalwards.
Haland was again on hand to keep the game goalless as Kirsty Maclean found space on the edge of the box to strike a right-footed effort towards goal but was pushed away by the Hibs goalkeeper.
From a resulting corner, Hannah Davison was denied on the line as Lucy Parry blocked the centre-back’s header. At the other end, Katie Lockwood shot just wide of Fife’s right-hand post from an Ellis Notley free-kick.
With 10 minutes of the game remaining, Rangers had another fantastic opportunity to break the deadlock as Lizzie Arnot did well to cut in from the left but her low shot was blocked by the foot of Haland before the keeper managed to block Emma Watson’s rebound effort before Hannah Davison hit the post with a header as the Light Blues continued to push for that all important goal.
In the 85th minute, Rangers got that goal, and it was Lizzie Arnot who found the target with her 11th league goal of the season. Megan Bell’s cross caused problems for Haland who was unable to gather, and Arnot, who had made a strong run into the box, was able to get a touch to fire home.
Gers were able to see out the remaining minutes at Meadowbank and head back to Glasgow with a vital three points with just three matches of the league campaign remaining.
