A dominant first half display ought to have brought about more than Katie Wilkinson’s opening goal, but they kept their foot to the floor in the second period to stretch their advantage through a first away strike for Quinty Sabajo and an excellent Laura Berry finish.
Domestic action will now pause for the international break before the side begin their defence of the Scottish Cup with a home clash against Renfrew at Broadwood.
Leanne Crichton made just the solitary change to the side which triumphed at Ibrox in the Old Firm nine days ago, welcoming Kim Shin Ji back into the starting lineup in place of May Cruft.
Only nine minutes had elapsed on the clock when the Gers edged ahead in the contest. It was crafted beautifully by Jodi McLeary in midfield, stepping through pressure before releasing an inch-perfect pass into the stride of Katie Wilkinson who dispatched confidently into the bottom corner.
Rangers appeared in confident mood – and little wonder after last weekend’s success – as Mia McAulay went close to doubling her side’s advantage when she curled goalwards from Wilkinson’s lay-off and the ball cannoned off the upright.
Down the opposite end, Lucy Ronald shot over from a short corner routine, but the waves of attack on the Motherwell goal continued unchecked.
McAulay turned architect moments later to slide a delicious through pass in search of Laura Berry, but Chloe Logan was equal to the forward’s effort at her near post.
She had to be alert, too, a few minutes later as Nicola Docherty stood up a terrific delivery for Quinty Sabajo to attack from close-range, but the Dutchwoman’s header was thwarted.
The combination of McAulay and Berry was proving fruitful for the visitors as Berry latched onto a lifted pass from her fellow Academy graduate but arrowed wide on her unfavoured left side.
Leah Eddie’s only goal in Gers colours arrived on this very pitch 12 months ago and the defender almost etched her name onto the scoresheet when she collected a McLeary free-kick at the far post, but her fizzed effort was straight down the throat of the Motherwell goalkeeper.
The second half began with the away side on the front foot as Wilkinson collected from a McAulay delivery before lifting an effort just inches over the crossbar.
Crichton surely couldn’t believe that her side weren’t further ahead in the contest, especially when the woodwork was struck moments later when Sabajo fed McAulay who was denied by the crossbar.
Eilidh Austin then worked herself into a decent crossing opportunity down the right-hand side, but her delivery sailed into the grateful arms of Logan.
And the away side didn’t have to wait much longer for the second goal. Again, Austin advanced down the right-hand side following a neat move from Rangers, standing up a delightful cross for Sabajo to volley home from point-blank range.
Two minutes later, the third arrived to remove any lingering worry about the outcome.
Berry was unfortunate not to write her name on the scoresheet in the first half, but there was no doubt about this one when she received in a tight area on the edge of the penalty area before expertly working the ball out of her feet to arrow an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
The afternoon was almost capped off by a wonder strike from substitute Camille Lafaix as she lifted a left-footed volley onto the roof of the net, proving the last action of note in a terrific display from Crichton's charges.
