A first half double from Ross McCausland, goals from Arron Lyall and Kane Ritchie-Hosler, and a last-minute penalty kick from Charlie McCann were enough for the youngsters to secure a win after a second half comeback from the visiting side.
The young Gers looked to carry their momentum from Tuesday night's victory at Parkhead as they aimed to collect another three points against the Galashiels side in the league campaign.
The B team boss made three changes to his squad since their midweek game with Jay Hogarth replacing Lewis Budinauckas in goals.
Adam Devine, Robbie Fraser, Greig Allen and Kyle McClelland were in front of him as the defending backline.
Charlie McCann, Arron Lyall, and Cole McKinnon were in the midfield with Tony Weston, Charlie Lindsay and Ross McCausland up front for the Light Blues.
The Gers looked to pressurise the opposition straight from kick-off with the squad pushing into the final third area quickly.
Charlie Lindsay had the first dangerous opportunity on goal after great build-up play with Tony Weston, the two skillfully switched between the backline to advance towards Josh Blair in goal. Weston cut the ball back to the youngster from the front post for Lindsay to get a shot away, but his effort agonisingly went over the crossbar.
The Light Blues didn’t have long to wait though as Arron Lyall hit the back of the net on the six-minute mark. Weston was able to find some space to drive down the right side and delivered a sensational ball to link up with the young Ger at the back post, Lyall took a one-touch volley to send McCallum’s side a goal up early on.
The Gers continued to create danger in the opposition’s half whilst defusing any threats in their own final third with the backline intercepting any threats to Jay Hogarth in goal.
Ross McCausland was next to see the back of the net for his side after Robbie Fraser sent a superb cross from the left side to the advancing Ger into a congested Gala box. The youngster took an excellent first touch and found some space to take a couple of touches and send a low shot past Blair.
McCallum’s squad looked hungry to add to their two-goal lead after continuing to pressurise the visitor's final third on multiple occasions.
McCausland was able to gain his double of the evening after a great link-up play with Lindsay from the left side. The youngster crossed a threatening ball into the middle of the box to connect with an unmarked McCausland who mirrored Lyall’s first goal volley to put the third past the Gala keeper.
It was a strong first forty-five from the youngsters as they headed into the break with a three-goal lead.
The opposition carried a surge of energy heading into the second half with a strong desire to close the deficit, and they were able to do so after Marc Berry put the ball past Hogarth less than a minute from the start of the second 45.
This jarred the home side as they looked to rectify this quickly, McCausland sent a ferocious strike from the edge of the box towards the goal, but Blair made a great save to block his effort.
Gala continued to raise their levels within the second half and remained hungry to push into the Gers' final third. Blair sent a through ball from a goal-kick to meet Zander Murray advancing past the backline, he sent a powerful strike towards the goal, but it rattled off the crossbar.
Following this, the visitors had multiple chances to close the Gers' lead after creating continual danger in the Rangers half, but the squad did well to intercept and block any threats.
Weston was close to netting the fourth for his side after linking up with a delivery from Fraser in the box, he made a great headed connection with his cross, but his effort went over the crossbar.
Lewis Hall got the second for Gala in the 73rd minute after he picked the ball up within a heavily congested box, he managed to find a pocket of space to put the ball past Hogarth.
McCallum’s side maintained their pressure to gain another goal, and Ritchie-Holser was on hand to supply it in the 89th minute. After an initial goal-line block from Blair, the youngster was able to get a touch to the stray deflection and slot it past the keeper.
Just as the game was coming to a close, the referee awarded Rangers a penalty after Weston was brought down within the Gala box. McCann stood up to take the shot and sent a low effort into the bottom corner to ensure another fantastic victory for the Light Blues.
