OUR FORM
The Gers have embarked on a challenging and varied games programme this campaign, encompassing matches at home and further afield.
Indeed, the Light Blues have recorded victories over Burnley and Everton already this campaign, while they have narrowly lost out to both Manchester clubs despite producing positive performances in each match.
They can also take huge encouragement from their SPFL Trust Trophy campaign until this point, recording triumphs over Spartans, Stenhousemuir and Alloa Athletic as they gear up for a last 16 clash with Airdrieonians in the next round.
THE OPPOSITION
Referred to as Monaco’s ‘Elite Group’, the Monegasque side have been prolific producers of talent in recent seasons, with Kylian Mbappe chief among the list of alumni, and they boast a wealth of individual talent that the young Gers will be keen to test themselves against.
Indeed, Monaco were victorious in their previous outing – also on British soil – as they ran out 2-1 winners over Liverpool Under-21s in the Premier League International Cup.
They have also registered victories over FC Nordsjælland, Nice and Toulouse this campaign, playing out consecutive 2-2 draws with Union Berlin and Cercle Brugge in September.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Midfielder, Arron Lyall: “We’re very excited for it. Monaco are a top team from France. It will be a different challenge to what we’re used to, and perhaps even from the clubs that we’ve played in England, so we’re excited to get going.
Attacking midfielder, Ross McCausland: “When you grow up as a Rangers fan your whole life, as a lot of the boys have, it means a lot to be playing at Ibrox, especially against a top side. We’re all looking forward and we’re buzzing for it.
“The supporters are the 12th man for us and the support they give us really does spur us on.”
