MATCH
Rangers B v Airdrieonians
Tuesday 7 November
Cappielow Park
Kick-off 7.45pm
OUR FORM
Gers B marched into the last 16 of the competition with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Alloa Athletic in Greenock in the previous round.
Indeed, the Light Blues also count League Two sides Spartans and Stenhousemuir among their list of vanquished teams this term, with Rangers scoring nine times across their three fixtures en route to the last 16.
In the meantime, the young Gers will be eager to build on their 4-0 success over Queen’s Park in the City of Glasgow Cup last time out as the side produced a clinical display in front of goal.
OUR OPPONENTS
The Diamonds advanced to the last 16 of the competition with a 3-2 away triumph over University of Stirling in September.
Indeed, Rhys McCabe’s side are currently nestled in sixth place in the Scottish Championship table having earned a creditable point at high-flying Raith Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
However, victories have been hard to come by for the Lanarkshire outfit in recent weeks, with their last triumph coming all the way back in September.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Defender Johnly Yfeko: “The fans have the biggest part to play. I know that they’re going to cheer us on and be right behind us.
“We’re going to need them and hopefully we can progress to the next round.”
Midfielder Arron Lyall: “We’re the only B team remaining in the competition, so that’s an accomplishment in itself considering there are Scottish Championship teams involved as well.
“Going into the match, we’re viewing it is a chance to get into a quarter-final of a cup, then obviously you take the next game as it comes.”
