McAllister, the club’s assistant manager, admits it has been a challenging start to the 2021/22 season but he felt the Light Blues hit top form in and out of possession in the first Glasgow derby of 21/22.
Speaking to RangersTV post-match, he said: "We've had a real tough three, four or five days; loads of stuff happening around the club, around the players and around the staff.
“But we saw a coming together for the football club, a big football club, right from the very top - the chairman right to the people that help us at the training ground.
“I've got to say the fans as well were pretty special and I thought we were more recognisable today. In possession we were excellent at times and out of possession very good.
“We were hard to break down although Celtic had moments, but it was an open game and we were fortunate to come out the winners. But that was more like it.
"Bearing in mind we’ve had players playing through injury and it has been difficult to make selections because we were waiting on some protocols and rules on Covid and close contact.
“It's been an immense effort from everybody and we've done it for the guys who are not here. They were desperate to be here - staff and players - so it's a good day for the club."
McAllister believes Helander’s terrific goal once again highlighted the importance of set pieces in key matches.
He said: "All big games, big elite games, even European Championships and World Cups, are decided on set plays. They are very crucial and vital.
“We've managed to get another one from a set piece today and that is credit to Tom [Culshaw] and Mick [Beale] who took it over the last two or three days. So we're delighted to win the game with a set piece."
Leon Balogun was named man of the match for his outstanding performance at right-back this afternoon, and McAllister was impressed with the way the defender dealt with the threat from Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi.
He added: "You would have to say Leon was obviously signed here as a centre-back but he's very much in our thoughts as a third-choice right-back.
“I thought today he handled it and he showed defensively that he is very capable of playing there against a difficult opponent - it was a proper man's performance. I know it is something Graeme Souness uses a lot, but that was a proper man's performance."
