MIA McAULAY relishes the big occasions at Rangers and says she was delighted to add to her goalscoring tally in Old Firm matches in this afternoon’s victory away from home.
The teenager broke the deadlock for the Gers before fellow Academy graduate Eilidh Austin doubled the tally to deliver a first derby triumph for Leanne Crichton.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, McAulay beamed: “I want to play my best every game. I love playing under pressure and in pressure moments, so I’m buzzing to get the win today.
“I love scoring goals, but I think scoring against them is extra special. I’m buzzing.
“My goal? We’ve worked on that a lot. I held my run, knew Wilko would see it, shouted for it and I just thought ‘score’.
“We’re buzzing. We came off last week and we didn’t perform the way that we did.
“I think we had to come out today and put in a really good performance, and we done that.”
It was another important strike in a derby occasion for the youngster, who is relishing working under Crichton.
The Head Coach handed a debut to Jess Pegram in defence this afternoon, while Kim Shin Ji was a standout performer in midfield.
McAulay added: “I played under [Crichton] at Scotland Under-23 level. It’s been amazing and I can’t wait for the rest of the season under her.
“The girls that have come in have amazing quality. The girls who have left are big characters, but we have the quality in the dressing room and the new girls coming in stepped up today.
“There’s a long way to go, but it shows what we’re about today; how we can play football and hurt teams. I’m buzzing for the rest of the season.”
