The Light Blues host the Edinburgh side at Dumbarton on Sunday and McCallum said that work on the training pitch this week has been focussing on how the young Gers can impact the game.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “We have had a couple of games recently where we have had to learn because we realise there are areas we could be doing better, so we will focus on what we should be doing.
“We expect to have a decent amount of possession within the game and we will focus on trying to make sure that possession has a purpose and we carry a threat to Edinburgh. We also need to be prepared to defend as well and make sure that we have focus and concentration to stop Edinburgh getting opportunities to go and hurt us.
“We have to make sure we take the bounce off the positive performance against Partick Thistle, the start of that game was important and we made them feel like they were on the back foot quite early on.
“We will use that as our base that we want to get to and hopefully make sure we are ruthless with the opportunities in both boxes.”
Following a busy few weeks for the young Gers, McCallum hopes a crowd will be behind them in their final match before Christmas.
He continued: “With the game being on Sunday this week it is a little bit different, it has been a very busy schedule and this is the last one before Christmas. We want to make sure we go into the Christmas spell having had a good positive performance and result.
“The crowds that have turned up have been excellent and the support that we have is great, it does give the players that little bit extra but that is what it is about and that is part of the journey.
“It has been greatly appreciated for those that have come along and hopefully they have enjoyed it. That is something we always speak about with the players as well, yes we are here to play but we always want to put on a performance that people enjoy and hopefully that will be the case on Sunday.”
Kick-off in Dumbarton on Sunday is 1pm and tickets can be bought at the stadium before the game.
