The Light Blues picked up a key three points in the league campaign today after a dominant display at Dumbarton and the B team boss expressed emotions after attaining the much-needed win.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV following their league match, he said: “It was a really strong first half, we really wanted the players to go out and enjoy today’s game and have that feeling of being obsessed and have an impact in an attacking sense.
"Having lost a goal late on in the game was probably the only frustration from the match, but I thought our goals were excellent. I’m really pleased with today’s performance.
“We wanted to start on the front foot and make them feel as though they had to defend an awful lot which turned out to be the case. Three goals in the first half and they make three substitutions in the second to try and bring more energy into their team, but I still feel as though we had chances in the second half.
“Sometimes we don’t need to score all the time, we want to control and possession to go when we are ready. We still felt as though we were in control in the second half, it’s a positive end to the day.”
McCallum believes that this afternoon’s win is the positive bounce back that the team needed following a tough run of matches in recent weeks.
He continued: “When you look at the games we’ve had, there have been different types of games and naturally you want to go and perform, compete, and win. The Tranent Juniors game was challenging, but the Gala Fairydean one was the one we were most frustrated with in terms of performance.
“We have to try and continue to develop the players and challenge them, today is a good way to end this part of the season because we have a bit of a break.”
