The Rangers support flocked to Seaview in their droves this afternoon as a brace from Ross McCausland and a terrific strike from Arron Lyall ramped up the side's preparations for the competitive campaign.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, McCallum said: "The first thing is that we've come into an excellent environment in terms of the number of fans that turned out for the game.
"You could feel that in the game itself which is great because the games that we've played until now have been behind closed doors to get the lads to a point where they're back into game environments. They came into a slightly more competitive and energetic game, so we enjoyed that.
"I enjoyed a lot of what we done with the ball, although we caused ourselves some problems with a lack of concentration. There were some excellent goals in there as well which is really pleasing to see.
"We mentioned the word expectation before the game. There's an expectation at Rangers that when you come and play, you perform and do well.
"The Rangers fans always want to see the team win, we know that, but we always have to challenge the players about how we get to that point. It's about the energy and understanding in how we look without the ball, and it's about showing your quality and making the best decisions when you do have it.
"At times we saw that, but at other times we didn't. It's the first game in an open environment where the fans have come along in pre-season, and it was excellent to have that number of fans here. I always think the players react and respond to that."
McCallum made seven changes across the 90 minutes, each of whom provided energy as the Light Blues grew in strength in the second half to cap off a productive afternoon.
He added: "We've got two players in pretty much every position here with us. It's important that we're able to make the changes that we feel are right at the time as part of our pre-season programme.
"If you look at the impact that the players who came on made, scoring two goals in the second half, you could see the energy pick back up again which is the way pre-season is.
“We showed signs of how we want to look with the ball, signs of control, and got into good positions without having the finishing touch in one or two good moments.
"We want to be better out of possession and be more compact, making sure that when the game changes we don't become disjointed. That's why we come to play these games, because we know we'll be challenged in those moments."
