The 20-year-old attacking midfielder opened the scoring inside 15 seconds as Gers B produced an emphatic Old Firm victory in Govan last year.
Born and raised in Northern Ireland, McCausland regularly made the pilgrimage across to Scotland as a Rangers-mad boy before he signed professionally for the Academy as a 16-year-old back in 2019.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of Saturday’s visit from the Monegasque club, McCausland says he will never take for granted the opportunity to pull on the Rangers jersey in front of supporters: “When you grow up as a Rangers fan your whole life, as a lot of the boys have, it means a lot to be playing at Ibrox, especially against a top side. We’re all looking forward and we’re buzzing for it.
“The first ever game I came to at Ibrox, if I can recall, was against Aberdeen. I was eight-years-old. I just remember walking into Ibrox and being starstruck; the atmosphere and number of people. It was the first real game of football that I went to, and I’ve loved it ever since then.

“Steven Davis was my main hero, but also Paul Gascoigne and Ally McCoist, even though they were before my time, just watching them on YouTube and hearing stories about them.
“It was always one of my biggest dreams to play for Rangers. It was one of my family’s biggest dreams for me as well. It was a dream come true when I signed four years ago, and my family were so proud of me.
“[Scoring at Ibrox] is a feeling that I’ll never forget. I never knew what to do because the goal came so soon into the game, and it made it even better that all the fans were there.
“I had family in the stands as well as my girlfriend, which made it even more special. Coming to Ibrox and scoring against Celtic was always one of my biggest dreams, so to do it at Ibrox was even better.”
Monaco are set to provide a stern challenge for the young Gers who are relishing the opportunity to showcase their talent on the slick Ibrox surface.
McCausland has urged the side to put on a show for the supporters, and he believes the Ibrox crowd can make the difference on the day.
He continued: “Being a supporter myself makes me appreciate the fans more. The fans play a massive part, even in our games in the Glasgow Cup. It’ll be good if we can deliver a result to them on Saturday.
“It’s the least that they deserve for what they do for us. They come along to every single game and support us, so the result, along with a bit of fight, is the least that we can give them.
“Monaco are a top side in France and it will be a testing game. We’ve trained throughout the week and we’ll look into them to see how they play. We’ll be happy if we can come out, give our all, and get a result.
“They’re competing for the same thing that we’re competing for: to get into our respective first-team. We want to play every week, so challenging yourself against players who are trying to achieve the very same thing is something that we need to be doing.
“The supporters are the 12th man for us and the support they give us really does spur us on.”
Kick-off at Ibrox this Saturday is 4pm, with tickets priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and available to purchase here.
