The B Team are looking to sting the Wasps at Cappielow tonight as they look to set up a clash with Airdrie in the next round.
McCausland knows it won’t be easy against the League One side but reckons it is just what David McCallum’s players require.
He said: “We are looking forward to the game, it is going to be a challenge, but it is one we need and we want to be in the next round.
“So far this season I have enjoyed the best v best games.
“In terms of the matches we have played they have been of a top standard playing top European teams.
“Playing against the likes of Manchester City and you compete, you come away feeling good.
“These are the types of games we needed I think.
“We have done well and we haven’t looked out of place against these types of teams.
“Against Man City we conceded late but we did well. In other games we have been the better team and maybe we surprised a few teams.
“These games are great for preparing you for the next part of your career.
“We are playing against teams who have players trying to get into the first team of the best clubs in England.
“Alloa will bring a different challenge but that is the next step for us and you have to adapt to it.”
McCausland watched team-mate Bailey Rice come off the bench for the first-team in the win over Motherwell.
The Northern Irishman has had a taste of life with Michael Beale’s side and he would love to continue to impress.
He added: “Seeing Bailey getting on spurs you on and makes you think the chances are there.
“I have been around with the first-team a few times and I have had good feedback from the staff and I enjoyed it.
“When you get the shout to go round to the first-team you shouldn’t be surprised, you should be ready for it.
“To do that you need to be at your best and show the manager and his staff why they should pick you for their squads.
“The first-team players are really good with the younger boys and in my few years with the club there are too many to mention.
“They tell you where you need to be at and if you aren’t at that standard then they are quick to tell you.”
