McCrorie Delighted To Sign New Contract

ROBBY MCCRORIE has revealed his delight at signing a new contract at Rangers and says he will continue his push for the starting jersey as goalkeeper.

The Gers Academy graduate today penned a new deal that will keep him at Ibrox until 2025.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV, the 24-year-old opened up on his future ambitions at the club: “I’m happy to get it done. I love the club. Signing the contract is hopefully a statement of intent going forward for myself and the club.

“I think it’s important to try and assert myself in the team, to do everything possible to make myself successful and, more importantly, make the club successful. Hopefully I can play as many games as possible, but I think everyone at the club wants to have a positive impact on and off the pitch.

“I’ve tried to get as much as possible out of every day, soaking up what the club has done in terms of the European run, winning the Scottish Cup, the big matches. I’ve tried to take in as much as possible and use that for myself going forward.

“Over the period of this contract it’s important that when the time comes, I’ll be ready. Hopefully the manager puts that faith in me and then it’s up to myself on the pitch. The reason I signed the contract is because I love the club. I want to really kick on with my career and establish myself as a first-team goalkeeper.”

McCrorie has been part of a strong goalkeeping unit involving Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin in recent years, supported by goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart, and the 24-year-old says he has benefitted greatly from training within the group.

He continued: “I enjoy it massively. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve worked with top goalkeepers all the way at the club and with the national team.

"Regardless of who it is, I always look at what people do day-to-day and in matches. It can only benefit me. It’s important that I also stamp in my own traits and help improve them.

“The biggest thing is that we push the standards and each other. You shouldn’t be at Rangers if you want to settle for being average. I think Colin and the goalkeepers as a group, we definitely work together to be better each day, and get results for the club.”
