The Light Blues travel to the Red Bull Arena in Germany to face Domenico Tedesco’s side in the first leg of the last four, before the return to Ibrox next Thursday.
This is the first semi-final of a European tournament that the club have reached since 2008, and McGregor believes that this is an ‘unbelievable achievement’ for the club and expressed his emotions to get to this stage of the competition.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, he said: “Three and a half years ago, I don’t think that anybody would think that we would qualify for the groups and then each year we have progressed.
“It’s been an unbelievable achievement for all the boys and staff throughout, it’s been a good run.
“You just take each game as it comes, and it’ll be a big occasion for the club and players, and we just need to go out and enjoy it.
“It’ll be special to every player, to get to this stage in a European competition for the club is massive.”
The versatile goalkeeper looked ahead to tomorrow night’s game and outlined how the squad will prepare for any challenges presented on the pitch.
He added: “You do your due diligence beforehand, but you just need to face the challenges that come ahead and that’s it, regardless of who you are playing.
“Every team has a chance to score and being in that position at the right time is to deal with it, it doesn’t matter who it is in my opinion – you still need to save and deal with it.”
