The young Ger expressed his excitement to play on the hallowed Ibrox pitch with a vocal support backing the Light Blues from the stands.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of the match, he said: “We can’t wait, the boys are absolutely buzzing. These are the games you look forward to as a Rangers player against the other side of the derby. As a Rangers fan, I can’t wait as it’s at Ibrox. We just played them at the Glasgow Cup, it wasn’t the result that we wanted, but hopefully, we can get all three points come Saturday.
“Even when I first signed, I got to walk down the tunnel and even then, it was just amazing – being able to do that and play on the pitch, I cannot wait.
“The Rangers fans are the best in the world, I’m absolutely buzzing for it."
McKinnon reflected on the last game against Celtic in the Glasgow Cup and how he believes the B squad must reflect on that game to gain an important three points on Saturday.
He added: “We know a little bit about them and how they want to play, it gave us that week to prepare and figure out how we want to play. It will be a good game.
“I think the main thing for us is just to prepare as though it was another game. I think being calm in those games can help because sometimes it will just become a battle, especially with how high the standards need to be going into the game. I think if the boys remain calm and play the football that we know we can play, I think we’ll be alright.”
