Following their return from their week long camp in Italy, the Light Blues were boosted by the news of the former Scotland international coming through the door ahead of their final pre-season fixture against Sunderland tomorrow afternoon.
Speaking to the official club website to look ahead to the friendly outing, she commented: “I have known Leanne previously. I worked under her at Scotland youth setups.
“When I heard that she was coming in I was buzzing to be honest. She is a really good coach but also more importantly a really good person.
“We met her today, she is in the building and already you can see that she is really looking forward to working with this group, as we are looking forward to working with her.
“She has got a lot of knowledge to share and me being a young player I just can't wait to learn off someone like that as well.
“When you are coming back into pre-season and you don't know what is happening it can be quite uncertain and they'll be a lot of change, but I think when we found out Leanne was going to be coming in she has come in this morning and everyone has got that spring in their step.
“She is going to come in, she is going to want to change a few things and I can't wait to start working under her.
“We have got a lot of growing to do as a group and she can be the person to really take us forward and get us that little bit extra and hopefully be really successful this season.
“Tomorrow’s game? The two games against AC and Inter were more focusing on us out of possession and what we could do when we win the ball back, but I think against Middlesbrough and Sunderland it will be more focused on us.
“What we do with the ball, how we move the ball. We played Sunderland last year but it will be a completely different team as we have got as well.
“Come tomorrow we will be ready to go and focusing more on us, getting us ready for that first game of the season against Montrose.”
The youngster has reflected on the recent week long time away in Northern Italy, feeling the squad will benefit from testing themselves against high level opposition.
She continued: “It was a really positive week for everybody. It was two games that were tough in their own ways.
“I think we challenged ourselves, the girls application was first class and even when things weren't going our way we didn't stop and that is going to stand us in good stead going into the season.
“When you play against top sides like that I think it only makes you want to play that every week.
“Obviously we are going to face different challenges in the league but going out there and challenging ourselves against probably two of the best teams in Europe it is going to lead us into really good stead.
“We don't want to be playing games where we're on top and we have more of the ball we need to learn the other side of the game because we might come up against that at different points in the season.
“Playing against that type of opposition is only going to benefit us.
“The recovery and everything is so well planned here. It was three games in a short space of time, a lot of travel as well so I think it was just maximising everything that we could use.
“The facilities, Lorena [Sumser] and the sport science as well as all the staff they have been great. Playing three games is probably better than training, I think we get more out of playing games.
“It was planned in a really good way and then we are leading into Sunderland for the last game of pre-season which will be another good test for us.
Tomorrow’s clash against the Super League 2 side will round off the Gers’ pre-season preparations for another campaign, with the midfielder hopeful of a fast start to the SWPL come next Sunday when they head to Links Park.
She added: “That is always the aim here, we go into every game wanting to win it. The change in management, change of players, everybody that comes into this group knows the demands of playing at the football club and being involved at this football club.
“It is a tough game to start off the season, Montrose will be a really well organised team but also we know we can do ourselves.
“We have seen it day in day out here, the quality we have got in the dressing room new signings included.
“It will hopefully be a really positive season and one that I am really looking forward too.”
