The Light Blues rounded off their pre-season trip with a challenging friendly outing against AC Milan this evening.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the match and the week as a whole, he commented: “It was a really strong test for us against another really strong side similar to Inter Milan on Wednesday night.
“AC Milan were really strong today, the style of football that they played gave us a really good challenge but I thought for long periods of the game we matched them, we competed well, we just maybe didn't have the final bit of quality in the final third but our play in the middle of the pitch and our build-up play was good.
“I don't think the scoreline is a fair reflection on the performance on the day.
“Lots of credit, lots of tired legs because a few of the girls that played a lot of time on Wednesday night had to play again today.
“It was a credit to them I think towards the end there was a bit of tiredness set in but as an exercise for pre-season it was very worthwhile.
“It will stand us in good stead; we have got another home game against Sunderland when we get back home on Wednesday so we look forward to that. We will rest up and look forward to that but really worthwhile today.
“They done a lot of good things in terms of building up the play. Retaining possession after we won it and not giving it away immediately and starting to build up the pitch as a team.
“I thought we seen passages of that today so from their learning point it was very good.
“We just need to continue that and when you are playing teams at this level you have got to capitalise and take your chances as well when they come along.
After falling to the 4-0 defeat, there were positives for the Gers squad with the return of midfielder Liv McLoughlin and Eilidh Austin who earned their first minutes of the pre-season programme.
He continued: “Olivia has been out for a while and it is good to get her back, getting her 30 minutes today.
“Eilidh had an illness for a short time so coming back after that so getting strength in numbers a wee bit more, hopefully one or two more players coming back in the medium future will stand us in good stead but for great for them to get back on the pitch.
“I am sure they were delighted and I spoke to them earlier on and they were really pleased and they done well when they went on.
“Credit to them, credit to all the girls, a few that had to play the 90 minutes today after playing 90 minutes on Wednesday night as well.
“Everybody over the last six days and the three games and over the last four weeks has performed really well.
“Their work rate, attitude and enthusiasm has been great on top of their ability so it has been an enjoyable period to work with them and hopefully they can continue as there is another game on Wednesday.
The assistant has looked back on an intense period for the Light Blues, having played three matches in a short space of time, as they now look ahead to their last outing before the beginning of the SWPL season.
He added: “We're here for five days, we played two games so you are not getting a lot of time on the training pitch.
“It is recovery and play and prepare. We analyse the games and we review them.
“A busy period for the girls but they have applied themselves really well, the way they have been in training, they've been receptive they've been giving their own ideas.
“They have been having an input into it themselves because at the end of the day it is them that is on the pitch and seeing and feeling the things.
“It has been really good, really worthwhile and we'll rest up tonight and fly back home tomorrow.”
