Men's International Review

RANGERS have had a number of players away on international duty over the past week as the UEFA Nations League group stage came to its conclusion and friendly matches took place.

Here is a look at who was involved and how they got on:

John Souttar & Connor Barron – Scotland

Scotland 1-0 Croatia - UEFA Nations League

Poland 1-2 Scotland - UEFA Nations League

The Gers duo were present in the Scotland squad as they enjoyed a vastly impressive end to their Nations League group stage campaign.

Souttar was in the starting side on Friday evening as he helped the team to a clean sheet in a 1-0 success over Croatia at Hampden Park before providing a late match-winning assist in Warsaw as the Scots claimed back-to-back wins.

Having finished third in League A group 1 they now await their fate ahead of their next round of matches in March.

Nedim Bajrami – Albania

Albania 0-0 Czech Republic - UEFA Nations League

Albania 1-2 Ukraine - UEFA Nations League

Nedim was part of the Albania squad for their final two matches of the calendar year in the most recent break.

He was named in the starting side as his nation played out a goalless draw with the Czech Republic as he came up against club teammate Vaclav Cerny on the night before he found the target from the penalty spot in a narrow home defeat to Ukraine as they finished bottom of their group.

Vaclav Cerny – Czech Republic

Albania 0-0 Czech Republic - UEFA Nations League

Czech Republic 2-1 Georgia - UEFA Nations League

Vaclav was named in the starting side for his country in the goalless draw on Saturday before again featuring in yesterday’s 2-1 success over Georgia as the Czech’s claimed promotion to League A with 11 points from six matches.

It was a positive end to the calendar year for his nation after competing in this summer’s European Championships, as he looks to continue his good form at club level.

Ross McCausland – Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland 2-0 Belarus - UEFA Nations League

Luxembourg 2-2 Northern Ireland - UEFA Nations League

Ross was unfortunately not involved in either of Northern Ireland’s Nations League fixtures having been named in the original squad.

Micheal O’Neill’s men sealed promotion to League B after a 2-0 home success over Belarus before playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Luxembourg on Monday evening.

Ianis Hagi - Romania

Romania 0-0 Kosovo - UEFA Nations League

Romania 4-1 Cyprus - UEFA Nations League

Romania’s first Nations League clash of the break was abandoned in stoppage time before the midfielder was named in the starting side as they rounded off their campaign with a convincing victory over Cyprus.

Ianis was on hand to provide an assist in the game for the fourth goal as his country continued their impressive run of form to achieve promotion to League B.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo – Netherlands U21

Slovakia U21 3-3 Netherlands U21 - Friendly

Netherlands U21 1-1 England U21 - Friendly

Nana was part of the Netherland’s Under-21s squad who played out a pair of friendlies in their final outings of the year.

He appeared from the substitutes bench as his nation played out an entertaining six-goal draw with a young Slovakia side before he suffered an unfortunate injury in his team’s second clash against England.
