The Gers continued their unbeaten campaign in all competitions in the capital, ending a run of successive draws in the process.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, the 17-year-old commented: “I felt in the first half that we were causing ourselves all sorts of problems, but once we got the goal we started to get into things.
“I thought in the second half we came out and showed the character in the dressing room, and we got the three points.
“It shows the character in the dressing room to win coming off the international break and the draw with Celtic prior to it.”
McAulay lit up the contest with a two-goal performance, continuing her fine run of form in front of goal after netting the leveller in the Old Firm at Ibrox last month.
The teenager also highlighted her positional versatility by ending the game playing between the lines in a central role.
She added: “The first goal was like the one that I scored at Ibrox, with a Rachel Rowe assist.
“Then the second goal, I picked it up in the number ten position and I was told to make runs forward, so I made the run and scored. I’m really happy with the two goals.
“Playing as a No.10? It’s really different to playing wing-back, but if Jo needs me to play there, then I’ll play it.
“I don’t mind where I play, as long as I’m on the pitch.”
