In less than two years the backroom team has grown from one to nine full-time dedicated members of staff who support the women’s and girls programme.
From sport science, player welfare, kit and analysis, each play a vital role in enhancing the professional set-up and environment for the players on and off the pitch.
Women’s and Girls’ Analyst Michael Gallacher spoke to RangersTV this week to tell us a bit more about his role.
Gallacher said: “On a day-to-day basis we film every training session and review them at the end of the week based on what the coaches are looking for from that week.
“From a weekend game we will take a look at ourselves and what we did well and we will gather the stats for that and see if we have reached our targets for that game.
“It is about leaving no stone unturned, we cover everything for ourselves to make sure we are doing things properly first and foremost but also we take a deep look at the opposition.
“We will look at maybe two or three games beforehand and then really condense that to deliver to the coaching staff in a way that they can understand and then we relay that to the players so that we are fully prepared for that game.”
Gallacher works closely with Head of Academy Analysis George Brown and the wider analysis department at the club to ensure the players are receiving the best support possible.
He continued: “We are linked with the Academy so we have almost got an analysis department that the Women’s and Girls’ programme stand alongside so I am in contact with George Brown pretty much every day.
“Coming in and having that contact with someone very knowledgeable and very experienced is invaluable for me and for the women's programme.
“We act as a soundboard for each other and he is very open so I can go to him with ideas and it just comes back to that one club ethos that we have got.
“It is really really strong and ultimately the goal is just to improve the services for our staff and for our players and be the best we can be.
“I think we have got a really good group of players who take it on board and that is testament to them and it makes my job a bit easier as well.”
Despite limited face-to-face contact in the past 12 months, Gallacher says the players and staff have continued to build strong relationships while making use of the time to deliver key messages around the gamemodel.
He continued: “In the past year or so since we have been in we have all built close relationships especially considering we have not had a lot of contact time on the pitch but we have made the most of what we have had.
“Everyone is really dedicated and we obviously all share that common goal that we want to bring success to the club and to raise the profile of women's football and I think we are doing that slowly but surely and we just need to keep striving and working hard.
“We have had a good opportunity in lockdown to really hammer home the messages that the coaching staff want the players to know surrounding the game model, philosophy and style of play.
“The players have taken that on board and we are all starting to use the same language now and everyone understands what they are needing to do.”
