It was a tough second day of the tournament for the Gers as they lost their four games, but managed to secure a fourth placed spot in the competition.
With a young squad in Germany for the under-19 competition, Murty feels it will only benefit their learning in the long run.
He said: “It was good it was exactly what we thought it would be. It was a massive stretch for some of our young players.
“We design it that way so that we get them stretched, we get them tired and fatigued and it reveals little bits of their character that maybe we wouldn’t see when they keep on winning every week.
“I think today was a bit much for them if I am honest we run out of legs a little bit but they kept on going and they kept grafting and you can’t fault them for not quite being as physically mature as some of the guys.
“That will come but we need to see that resilience and that character that drive to compete running through all of our teams and tournaments like this are ideal learning ground for our young people.”
The Development Head Coach feels the experience will be beneficial for the players as the further their careers.
He continued: “We made the semi’s last year and if you had asked us after the first game when the guys looked a little bit wide-eyed if we thought we would make the semi’s we didn’t think we would but they progressed and got better every game.
“They found it tough, and they found it a struggle but nothing they have experienced today will be fatal to their career. It is all about learning and making them better.
“We want to win, we are competitive animals by nature but for their long-term growth tournaments like this against people who are experienced and knowledgeable in the format is fantastic for their learning.”
