RYAN NADERI was delighted to be the Rangers hero in the 1-0 UEFA Conference League play-off win over FK Jablonec.
The German striker tucked home the opener five minutes into the second half after a superb move from the Gers.
A quick break - involving eight players - saw Dan Neil swing in a deep cross to the back post where Daisuke Yokota headed the ball across the box for Naderi to fire into the net for his second goal in two matches.
The towering hitman insists he is happy just to be playing his part in the team as they head to Czechia with an advantage.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It was amazing and fun out there.
“The fans supported us and we are happy with the win. We still have the second leg and we have to keep going.
“When you try to qualify for a European competition it is always against tough opponents.
“We had to stay focused for the game. We got the goal and we could have scored a few more, but we are happy with the win.
“I had to just tap in the goal and that’s part of being the striker. I am happy although it is a team effort, but to be the one who puts it in the goal is good.
“I have scored two goals in two games but I like to support the team and we are heading in the right direction after a tough start.
“It is about sticking together and staying focused and keep going.”
Naderi knows the second leg next Thursday in Czechia won’t be easy, but he believes if the squad play to their potential, they can secure a Conference League place.
He added: “We have to go over there for the second leg and we have to stay focused, it is only half time in the tie.
“We are happy to go there with a lead but we have to keep going and we can’t under-estimate them.
“We have to keep pushing like we did at the start of the second half and we have to keep going.
“I think it will go well but we have to stay focused and put even more into the next game.”
