Steven Davis fired Rangers ahead after only 10 minutes, with a Jonjoe Kenny own-goal doubling the advantage in the first-half.
The 19-year-old was delighted at full-time as Rangers progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking to RangersTV he said: “It was great, right from the word go we were on it and every man on that pitch played really well and I thought we deserved the win.
“The plan was just to go after them right from the start and all the boys did that and we were right on the front foot and we deserved the goal early on.”
The victory continued Gers’ unbeaten domestic record at home this season, and Patterson praised yet another strong defensive performance from the side.
He continued: “All the players played really well, especially the back four. It was our aim to keep a clean sheet and we knew if we did that we would win the game and that is what we managed to do.
“We have been really strong at home, it’s a fortress and that is why Ibrox is a hard place to come.
“We knew we had to just keep doing what we were doing, keep making it even tighter so they couldn’t get any opportunities and to go on and try and win the game and we have done that.”
Rangers now look ahead to a double header against St Johnstone, firstly away in Perth on League duty on Wednesday night before hosting them in the Scottish Cup quarter-final next weekend.
Patterson added: “It will be a good challenge but hopefully we can go on and win the games and go even further in the cup.”
