The defender will lead the team against SWPL rivals Partick Thistle at Tynecastle as the Gers look to retain the Sky Sports Cup trophy.
Docherty loved every minute of the 2-0 win over Hibernian last term and she hopes to repeat the feat this afternoon against the Jags.
Speaking to RangersTV, she said: “What would it mean to me to lift my first silverware as Rangers captain? It would be massive.
“I am looking forward to it, but as I have always said we have so many leaders in the dressing room and I would love to lift it alongside Kathy Hill as well.
“We are really excited and there is a chance to retain the trophy we won last season.
“Last year was a brilliant day and the fans turned up in their numbers. We appreciate that as players and they can help us win the trophy.
“Can the experience help? Yes, we have a number of players who were in the team last year.
“That is something we will try to use to our advantage. This is Partick’s first final and we want to win the game.
“In big games you know it is one match and it can go to extra-time and penalties, so you have to turn up on the day.
“That is something we have spoken about, we know we have to be on it and on top of our game.
“It is a cliche, but we only focus on the next game and this is no different.”
If Rangers can secure the victory they, and the Light Blues’ fans are looking for, then it would also be a first trophy as Gers boss for gaffer Jo Potter.
The former England international put pen to paper on an extended deal earlier this month and Docherty believes lifting the cup would be their reward for plenty of hard graft so far this season.
She added: “We have had a lot of standout moments so far this season.
“You can go right back to when Jo first came in and we tried a lot of new things.
“We have performed well and now it is about bouncing back from that first disappointment of last week.
“We have a lot of experience in the dressing room with some young players, so we have a great squad.
“We are looking forward to it and hopefully we can do it.”
