Nicola Docherty: Looking To Key Learning Moments

NICOLA DOCHERTY looks at the key learning moments the squad can take from playing experienced teams in pre-season.

The Rangers Women’s defender spoke exclusively to RangersTV after their last pre-season friendly against Manchester United.

The Light Blue reflected on the team’s performance as they faced the Reds at the Rangers Training Centre on Thursday night.

She said: “I think Manchester United are a fantastic side, you could see the quality in abundance in their squad.

“For us, it has always been about challenging ourselves in these pre-season friendlies with the Everton and Chelsea game as well, it allows us to see where we are at this season.

"They were [Manchester United] different class tonight moving the ball about, for us, it was just about staying focussed and getting 90 minutes in the belt.”

Docherty looked back on the team’s pre-season friendlies and underlined how they have benefitted the women heading into a new competitive season.

She continued “I think what we take into next season is you play top quality like that and can we defend in better situations.

“For us, it’s about building a squad and it was a great test tonight for the team and we are going to take that into next season.

"It’s been about getting minutes in the tank, we want to play against the best teams but we did a good account for ourselves and we got out of tight situations when they pressed us high."
