Speaking to RangersTV to preview Friday evening’s last four showdown, the captain commented: “It’s always exciting. It’s a game that we’re all really looking forward to because we’ve obviously got ourselves a good start to the season.
“But for us, we’re ultimately viewing it as just another game and treating it like we do any other game in the league.
“Of course, it’s a semi-final and we really want to reach the final, so hopefully we can put on a good performance as well.
“It’s a one-off game and ultimately you want to make it to the final. It’s a game we really need to turn up and we want to get through to the next round.
“What I say to the girls, and what we all say to each other, is not to let the occasion get to you.
“That’s massive in these fixtures, which is probably the same for the men, and to treat it like every other match.”
The Sky Sports Cup currently resides in the Ibrox trophy room after the Gers ran out 2-0 winners over Hibernian in the final last season.
Docherty insists there is a hunger among the squad to retain their grip on silverware, with the side having plundered 22 goals in their opening two fixtures of 2024.
She added: “You always want to keep trophies for as long as you can, and that’s no different come this game. We want to make it through to the final and try to retain the cup.
“But first and foremost, we need to get through this game first before we can even start thinking about lifting a trophy.
“The biggest thing that I take away is that it’s not just the strikers that are scoring; goals are coming from all over the pitch.
“There are so many goalscorers within the team, and even I’ve popped up with one this season! Hopefully there is more of that to come.
“I’m just glad that they play for my team and that I don’t have to play against them! The girls up top have been phenomenal this season; Jane Ross’ comeback has been out of this world. It was fantastic to see her come back, but also to now see her as a goalscoring machine, which I know she was before she got injured.
“We also have the likes of Rio [Hardy] and Kirsty Howat who are out injured just now, but there are so many goalscorers within the team and we’re so fortunate that they are in our dressing room.”
