The Gers are back in competitive action this midweek as they prepare to host the UWCL mini-tournament by taking on SK Slavia Praha in the semi-final at Broadwood.
Speaking to the official club website ahead of the clash, the captain feels the team are well equipped for the challenge after a positive pre-season programme.
She said: “It has been really good and positive; it is just really good to be back, to be honest.
“We wanted to just get back on the pitch straightaway to try to fix what we didn't do last season.
“Pre-season has been pretty good; the new signings have integrated really well. Just the whole dynamic of the group has been really positive, and we are just excited to get going really.
“The pre-season fixtures have been a mixture of, obviously the first one was against Partick Thistle. A team that is in our league, and it was a good one to get us going, but then you make those trips down south, and you play against a team that has just been promoted to the WSL in Birmingham and Newcastle that have got really good quality in their dressing room as well.
“There were things that we wanted to work on after the Newcastle game, so we implemented them in the Birmingham one.
“It painted really good pictures on things that we want to work on and then obviously highlights the things that we did really well in that game as well.
“Really good pre-season fixtures and we are just looking forward to the Champions League now.
Having captained the side when they last tasted European action back in September 2024, the Scotland international is excited by that prospect once again and says it is a platform the club should be showcasing themselves on.
She continued: “These are the things that you dream of as a young kid; you want to be playing Champions League.
“You watch it on TV year in year out, whether that is the men or the women. Obviously we missed out on it last year so it is extremely important that we make sure that we are back on that stage, especially when you represent a club like Rangers.
“That is usually what happens when you play Champions League football: you sometimes come against opposition that you have not particularly played before at all.
“It is obviously the unknown, but I am sure Leanne and the staff and the analysis will have those games well and truly analysed, so we will get into that and make sure we know the ins and outs of the opposition.
“We are just really excited to be back in the Champions League; it is what you want to be playing at the highest level as a player at a club, so we are really looking forward to it.”
Docherty believes the impact of the seven new additions that have come through the door will pay dividends for the campaign ahead, having been impressed with their shows in the friendly outings so far.
She added: “I think all of the signings have definitely brought extra quality to the group.
“There is experience in there as well; you obviously want to have that balance of experience and youth, and we have got that in abundance this year.
“I am really excited to continue building that relationship with the new girls, and hopefully we can all get going now.”
