Spartans are the visitors to Broadwood Stadium and face a Light Blues side who sit atop the SWPL table with a 100% record.
It is the first time that the Gers are in action since last week’s UEFA Champions League qualifying exploits.
Drawn into a difficult group, Jo Potter’s side fell at the hands of Arsenal in north London before coming up short against Atletico Madrid in the third-place play-off.
Reflecting on the European experience, Docherty told RangersTV: “I think it was excellent to be back in the competition. It was something that we strived for; to get back to playing Champions League football.
“But when you reflect after the competition, there’s still a lot of disappointment on our part.
“I think we showcased ourselves at certain times in the two games, but there was certainly more from us that we could have shown.
“If you look back at the games, certainly the Arsenal one, you’re going into half-time goalless against a very good team and then you lose that goal.
“The way that the Arsenal game went, it was a hugely disappointing game for us.
“In terms of the Atletico Madrid game, there was improvement. We had large parts of possession, which is something we worked on during the week.
“We lost the game in three transitional moments, which is something we hit home in training and games back here.
“It’s a lot of learning and we’ve analysed the games since we’ve been back. We realise where we went wrong and it’s something we can really learn from.”
It’s back to league duty for Rangers this weekend and they can certainly take encouragement from a start to the season which has yielded a remarkable 43 goals in five games.
At the other end of the pitch, too, the Light Blues are yet to be breached defensively.
Docherty says her side’s clean sheet record is a result of their dedication to improvement over pre-season.
She added: “We prided ourselves a lot on clean sheets when we came back for pre-season.
“We conceded sloppy goals on our part if you look back to last season, but we’ve really tidied that up in pre-season.
“We know how important it is to make sure we keep getting those clean sheets, and it shows that the squad has really bought into the hard work.
“If you go and beat a team 8-0 but concede that one goal, it almost deflates the whole part of the performance.
“It’s only going to build confidence when we walk away from these games with comfortable possession, goals, and clean sheets as well.
“There’s a real togetherness within the squad and it’s always our goal to have those clean sheets.
“I’ve always said it, and I always will say, that it comes down to the winning mentality.
“When you’re up against it in a match and the performance perhaps isn’t going well, it’s about finding that cutting edge and way to win.
“I think we have that this season; there’s a real togetherness in the dressing room. We have added more quality upfront and have experienced defenders.
“It’s a real mix between talented youth and very experienced players at national team level.
“If we continue going that way then we could be really successful this season.”
