Rangers take on rivals Celtic in the first-ever derby match contested at Ibrox as the Light Blues look to strengthen their position at the top of the SWPL standings in the final fixture before the international break.
Speaking to RangersTV at the stadium in the build-up to the fixture, the captain says the squad are raring to go as they target a positive result in front of the home faithful.
She said: “We just want it to be a special day. I know there is so many fans out there who have maybe not came to one of our games before and I would honestly just try and encourage people to come give it a try.
“We are absolutely buzzing to be back here at Ibrox. It is another phenomenal opportunity to play at a fantastic stadium and we are just really raring to go now.”
The defender supported the club growing up and spoke of what it means to get the chance to play on the famous old turf for the second time this season, after their 7-0 success over Hibs back in October.
She continued: “It is what dreams are made of to be honest. I think if you ask any Rangers fan growing up as a kid if you could say you would have the opportunity to play at Ibrox you would probably bite your hand off for it.
“It is a phenomenal achievement for myself and obviously for the rest of the girls as well. Especially for my family, I used to come to these games with my dad when I was a young kid so it is an amazing opportunity again and I am just really privileged to do it.”
The skipper reflected on the success the side has had in the derby fixtures so far this campaign with two wins from two and says it is a great opportunity to bounce back from their league draw with Partick Thistle.
She added: “I think these games mostly comes down to mentality. I think when you play these fixtures and I have played quite a lot of them now is who turns up on the day and hopefully that is more us on Sunday.
“To go and do it at Ibrox against our Old Firm rivals will be fantastic, it will be a great occasion for us, but we will just be treating it like another game.
“The preparation that we put it in all week, we work so hard behind the scenes so that is all we will be focusing on going into Sunday’s match.
“What a fixture to go and do it. This is a massive game for us, but the season isn’t won or lost in one game and that is what I said on Sunday to the girls.
“For us it is like no other, we want to treat it just like any other game. I know that the media will like to hype it up as well and all that kind of stuff that goes along with Old Firm fixtures but for us it is another fixture that we want to get maximum points from and that is really what we will go and try and do.”
