RANGERS’ latest recruit Oliver Antman said the chance to move to the club was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down, and now he can’t wait to get started.
The winger was announced on a four-year deal from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles earlier today and joined his teammates for training ahead of tomorrow evening’s UEFA Champions League qualifier against Viktoria Plzen.
Speaking in an exclusive first interview for RangersTV, he said: “When I first heard Rangers were interested, I was excited because it is a huge club, and you don’t get these kinds of opportunities many times in your life.
“The last couple of days have been really busy and stressful but now I am ready to settle in.
“I have trained with Go Ahead Eagles now for over a month, I have had five training matches and also a 90-minute game, so I’m fully fit and ready.
“I think Scottish football is going to be a lot more physical but that is definitely something I can learn. To play for Rangers you have to win every single game, that is expected. You cannot skip a game, every single game is a must win. I am expecting a lot of wins and a lot of good times.”
On what he hopes to bring to the squad, Antman continued: “I am quite fast, a good dribbler, I like to score and assist a lot so hopefully the fans will see that.
“I like to give a lot of energy to the team, I am a team player, I do everything I can for the team, and I hope I can get a lot of goals and assists.”
Antman started his career in his native Finland, before spending six years at FC Nordsjælland, where he played alongside Mohamed Diomande.
On his time in Denmark, he said: “I learned a lot, the philosophy of the club is really special. They trust a lot of young players, you learn a lot tactically and you get to play with a lot of good players.
“I asked him should I come here, is it a nice place, and he only had good things to say about Rangers.”

Reflecting on a successful season last year with Go Ahead Eagles, Antman added: “I was great, I had a wonderful time there, it was a fantastic year.
“It was a dream season for all of the club, we won the cup there and it was good. It was also a very successful year for me. I got the most assists in the league, and I also played the best football I’ve played in my career, so it is a wonderful place.”
