LIV MCLOUGHLIN has been rewarded for her fine early season form with a first ever call-up to the England Under-23s squad.
The midfielder, who has previously represented her country at Under-19 level, will join up with the Young Lionesses next week as they prepare to take on the Netherlands and Portugal in the WU23 European competition.
The 20-year-old has been a mainstay in Jo Potter’s Rangers team throughout the campaign, featuring in 10 outings so far, putting in consistent showings whilst also repping the captain’s armband in the league victory over Spartans last month.
Her nation will firstly travel to take on the Dutch on Thursday, October 24, kicking off at 5pm before hosting Portugal to the Croud Meadow Stadium, home of Shrewsbury Town, on Tuesday, October 28, kicking off at 5.30pm. Emma Coates’ side went unbeaten in the European competition last season, with the format being enhanced for the 2024/25 campaign, which will include a group stage, semi-final and a final.
