It promises to be an intriguing encounter between two of Britain’s most historic clubs, with Philippe Clement’s side keen to continue their impressive form in the competition this season which has already yielded 11 points.

HISTORY
There are few clubs in the world more decorated than Manchester United, who boast a remarkable 20 domestic league titles.
The club have also won Europe’s major honour in the form of the UEFA Champions League on three separate occasions, most recently in 2008 in a dramatic penalty shootout triumph over Chelsea.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who spent two years on the books of Rangers as a player, was the mastermind of United’s success across the 1990s and 2000s, guiding the club to a league, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 1999.
Success in the Premier League, however, has been harder to come by in recent years for the Old Trafford side, although the club lifted the most recent edition of the FA Cup in May.
STADIUM
United have called Old Trafford home since 1910 and its capacity of over 70,000 ranks as the second-largest stadium in the United Kingdom behind Wembley.
The ground has been synonymous with success over the years and played host to matches at the 1966 FIFA World Cup and 1996 European Championships.
A memorable UEFA Champions League final back in 2003 was also hosted at the famous stadium, which saw AC Milan prevail in a dramatic penalty shootout over Juventus.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
These two sides squared off against each other in a pre-season clash at Murrayfield, with United running out 2-0 winners in the Scottish capital.
The clubs also boast recent history in the UEFA Champions League group stages, going toe-to-toe in both 2003 and 2010 as the English side prevailed in three out of the four encounters.
A vintage display from Walter Smith’s side in September 2010 earned the Light Blues a creditable point against a Manchester United side who contested the final of the competition in the same season.
CURRENT FORM
United currently find themselves languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table after struggling to find any form of consistency in results this term.
Indeed, a run of three games without defeat appeared to signal a turnaround in fortunes – including a penalty shootout FA Cup victory away to Arsenal – but a recent home defeat to Brighton brought about a 10th league defeat of the campaign.
MANAGER
Ruben Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag as Manchester United boss in November after enjoying a successful spell in charge of Sporting CP.
At only 39-years-old, the Portuguese manager is one of the youngest men in the hotseat at a major European club.
Rangers fans will be familiar with the United boss given Amorim was in charge of Braga when the Light Blues produced a memorable Ibrox comeback against the Portuguese side in the knockout stage of the UEFA Europa League in 2020.
KEY PLAYER
Amad Diallo is also a name familiar to the Gers support after the Ivorian spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at the Light Blues.
The 22-year-old is now enjoying the most productive campaign of his United campaign, netting nine goals and seven assists in 31 appearances.
Danish international Rasmus Højlund will likely join the winger in attack, while Manuel Ugarte is a consistently steady performer in midfield for Amorim’s side.
