The former Sheffield Wednesday boss was appointed on Monday afternoon as the Gers look to kick start their campaign from the off ahead of a busy stretch of matches ahead.
Speaking exclusively to the official Rangers website, the CEO has acknowledged a difficult period for the club but says they now must use it as a reset point to go on and deliver success.
He said: “It has been challenging; I think that is understandable. The supporters have been frustrated and disappointed with the results, as have we with the responsibility of running the club.
“We feel very hurt by where we are and that we have disappointed the supporters.
“We are incredibly determined, particularly given that we know the club isn't where the supporters want it to be, and understandably, they hold myself and leadership accountable for that, so it is on us to turn things around, and we are working incredibly hard.
“We are very single-minded in terms of what we need to do, and we will do it as quickly as possible.
“Plus, also at the same time we are focused on putting in place long-term foundations for the club, and that work has been going on in the background, but we understand that the here and now is most important and it is about winning match by match.”
Stewart has spoken of the detailed recruitment process of getting Danny Röhl to lead the side, hoping his previous coaching experience in pressure environments can stand him in good stead to hit the ground running.
He continued: “It was a detailed process. I know it was frustrating for many that it wasn't done more quickly, but we did want to be thorough.
“Ultimately, Danny came through the process as the head coach for a whole variety of reasons.
“One is that he described very well how he wants to win football matches and is very much winning first, and then how that is done is secondary.
“He is able to execute on what he is looking to do, so it is important that we turn theory into execution, and again, he was very credible in that perspective.
“Importantly, as well, he has been a manager in his own right at a club where he has to turn things around really quickly, and of course, we need wins quickly here as well.”
The CEO also gave an update on recent stadium development plans for Ibrox moving forward, and he highlighted the lessons everyone must take to put the recent period behind them, both on and off the pitch.
He added: “I think everyone would agree that Ibrox Stadium is something that we can all be incredibly proud of, and it is important we invest in it.
“It is important that it continues to be an asset that we feel proud of, but also helps generate revenue on a matchday that we can then invest back into the club.
“We have now started on our stadium masterplan project, the idea behind that is that we are going to look at the stadium in terms of short, medium and long term.
“How can we improve the stadium? How can we improve the revenue generated from the stadium? Some of the short-term initiatives we would anticipate being in place ideally for the start of next season.
“Some of the medium-term initiatives are probably one to two-year projects, and then longer term, ultimately we will be looking at stadium expansion.
“Looking at whether there is a need for that, whether it is viable.
“All of that is within the mix for this project, and we are going to be engaging with external consultants that have supported a number of clubs around the world in this type of exercise to make sure that we have got expertise and we are able to move on it relatively quickly.
“Ultimately, the thing that will give me confidence is if the men's first-team starts winning on the pitch, so we know that has got to be the priority.
“In the meantime, I am focusing on what I can control as well and encouraging other people to focus on what they can control. That is putting in place those foundation stones that will give the club that sort of long-term stability.”
