Patterson: It's Good To Be Back

NATHAN PATTERSON is looking forward to tests against Brighton and Real Madrid this week as the squad step-up pre-season preparations ahead of the league opener against Livingston.

Having recently returned to training after a delayed break due to EURO 2020, the 19-year-old has been working hard to get up to speed ahead of the start of the season.

Patterson sat down exclusively with RangersTV on his return to look ahead to the 2021/22 campaign.

He said: “It is great to be back, I've had a few weeks off to rest and recover and it is good to be back in with the boys working hard getting ready for the start of the season.

“The lads have had a few weeks ahead of me but I have been working hard and getting up to the pace. I’ve been training really well and I’m looking forward to the games coming up.

“In training you can work really hard and try to get up to match fitness but you can't get match fitness other than playing in a game so we need to use these matches to get ourselves up to speed.”

Patterson was one of the youngest members of Steve Clarke’s squad for the European Championships and hopes the experience will be the first of many for him and the national team.

He continued: “It was a great experience to be honest, to be a part of the squad and to get some fans back in the stadium.

"It was brilliant to be a part of it and hopefully I'll get some more opportunities in the future.

“The squad is looking really strong now, obviously myself and some young players are coming through to fight for positions and it is good to have some competition with the team so hopefully we will get pushed on.”
