Pegram Highlights Importance Of Clean Sheet

JESS PEGRAM has highlighted the importance of Rangers’ clean sheet in their SPWPL win this evening.

On a night they weren’t at their best, the Gers limited Partick Thistle to very little to ultimately claim a big three points at the top end of the table with a 1-0 success.

Speaking to RangersTV to look back on their victory over the Jags, she said: “I think going into the game we were just focusing on getting those three points.

“After the weekend we had we were glad to have the game coming in pretty early on in the week and only a few days between our match on Sunday and today.

“We were looking to respond to how the weekend went and I think we did that with the win.

“We pride ourselves on the clean sheet, so we are really happy to get that.

“It wasn't our best but getting over the line is the most important thing.”

From previous outings across all three domestic competitions this season, the young English defender knew the type of test they were facing tonight, but knows there will be plenty of twists and turns in the split to come with results elsewhere propelling the Light Blues to within two points of the summit.

She continued: “It wasn't our most complete performance but we are really happy with the three points.

“Partick [Thistle] have definitely been a test for us so far this season so we knew it wasn't going to be easy going into today but we are happy with the three points.

“Trying to pick up as many points each game as you can.

“We have still got six games left of the split so it is not many but just focusing on ourselves, not looking at how other results are going and just try get those three points each week.”

Pegram has featured in derby matches so far during her loan spell in Glasgow, as she says the team will ready to go when the latest instalment of taking on their city rivals rolls around at the beginning of next week at New Douglas Park.

She added: “Obviously it is a massive game the Old Firm on Monday.

“It is always a good challenge between us both and it brings different challenges.

“We are looking forward to it, we will have a good few days of preparation and hopefully get the three points there as well.”
