“AN amazing evening” was Philippe Clement’s take on Rangers’ stunning 3-2 victory over Real Betis in Seville tonight.
The Light Blues recorded their first ever victory over a Spanish team on Spanish soil to top Europa League Group C and pass straight to the Last 16 in March.
The boss told RangersTV: “It is an amazing evening and I am really proud of the boys - the way they stuck together and the way they were brave.
"The things I asked were to be brave, to go with our football, to create chances and to score nice goals, good goals and have a really top team mentality.
"That is what we need to do in the next couple of months. If they stick together like this every three days, you always have an amazing season."
The manager hopes the result and performance can be big for his players going forward, and he continued: "This is a big reference and statement for them, for the outside and if everyone is into the story and everyone is working hard then we are a really hard team to beat.
"Even top class teams like Betis, who were in really good form and had a really good game against Real Madrid last week which they could have won.
"This is the first loss in their home stadium this season also, and it was also a moment that we had to win - there was a lot of pressure on this game and the players, they dealt really well with this pressure and this ambition that we all had."
He also took time to praise the collective effort, adding: "At half-time, Cifu [Jose Cifuentes] had problems and had to come out, Dujon [Sterling] came in and played a really good game, but I saw a lot of good players - Cyriel [Dessers], Sam [Lammers] - they played a really big game, Kemar [Roofe] came back in having been out injured was good, so it is a really important evening for us.
"We have a moment to enjoy, but not too long. We have on Sunday a really big game and I am also really happy for all the fans who are here as the support was incredible during the game, after the game."
