Philippe Clement: I Want To Win In Everything I Do

MANAGER Philippe Clement has set his sights on bringing success to Ibrox as the new boss shared his ambitions in an exclusive first interview with RangersTV.

A winner both as a player and a manager, Clement says he wants to see confidence, belief, and hard work from his squad as he hopes to give them the platform to perform.

Speaking after being confirmed as the new manager, he said: “I want to win everything in everything I do, so that is the mentality I want to give my players and I want to convince them also about their own qualities because I see there is more quality in this team than they are showing at the moment.

“It is important to have confidence, it is important to believe in yourself, but the most important thing is hard work. There are no easy things, nobody wins in an easy way.

“It is a competitive sport, it is a sport where you need a lot of discipline, you need a lot of hard work daily. I look at the wall here and all the titles that the club has won in several competitions. Those are the things I love because I am a winner and I want to win trophies.

“I want to see ambitious players who want to give the best of themselves every day and then we will work together with all the staff here to give all the tools for the players to get the best out of themselves."

On his management style and what he is looking to see from the team, he continued: “I want to see a playing style that is created about scoring goals, about being dominant, about winning also.

“It is about being well structured, but with the ideas forward to attack but to also have a lot of changing of positions with the players. In the beginning you need some time because it is not natural but the moment, it starts to work then you get more fluid football, and you get a lot of goals.

“I am a football animal, so I have watched all the games from this season over the last couple of days, it has been busy. I have started to get to know the staff, of course you need a period to get to know everybody, and then it is about aligning everybody together to be one strong family who want to work hard to get great results.”

Clement is looking forward to taking to the dugout for the first time at Ibrox on Saturday as Rangers take on Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

He added: “I am really excited for that, it is an iconic stadium, everybody knows it all over Europe and all over the world. I have also seen a lot of games in the past where the fans are really on top of the players and behind them supporting them, giving them so much energy.

"I know from my playing days that these things can bring you to a higher level and I hope to see that in the next couple of weeks that all the Rangers family, all the fans get behind the players to push them to their best level and all together.”
