The Championship side are the visitors to Ibrox this weekend, with the Light Blues looking to take another step towards silverware.
Sitting down with the media at this afternoon’s press conference, the manager was asked about his ambitions in the cup, and his assessment of the recent January transfer window.
He said: “It is one of the four chances that you have before the season starts and for some competitions the route is shorter than others. It is a difficult one because the League Cup will stay in my stomach forever because of the penalty situation so this is one of our goals to win the Scottish Cup and it is a very important one.
“We as a club wanted more [in the transfer window], we talked about that but in the end, we didn't achieve all the goals that we wanted. It is about working with this squad and going full for everything we want and to win every game, that remains the ambition.
“It is about getting the maximum out of the group and to focus on that and that is what I am going to do.”
One player who will be joining the club in the summer is Dundee’s Lyall Cameron after the midfielder agreed a pre-contract with the club on the final day of the transfer window.
When asked about Cameron, the manager continued: “I am very happy that he is coming, okay it is next season, but it is part of our plans that we have with the club to develop Scottish players, or to get young Scottish players with potential and give them a chance.
“Lyall has done a lot of good things with Dundee, he has the right mentality, he really wants to come to the club, and we have had several talks about how I see him playing, what he could do for the team, and we are really happy that he can come next season.
“I want him to perform well at Dundee because otherwise it also shows that mentality can drop really fast, but I don’t have any doubts with him around those things. Lyall will give his best for Dundee and that is what I expect him to do.”
Rangers also confirmed three changes to the UEFA Europa League squad today, with Danilo, Ianis Hagi and Clinton Nsiala coming in in place of Kieran Dowell, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Oscar Cortes.
On the changes, Clement added: “It was difficult that we could only make three changes. We have Danilo back in the squad, he was unlucky with his shoulder injury but he is going to start training next week with the group again so he will be fit for these European games so that is a logical one.
“To get Ianis Hagi in the squad again is a logical one as is Clinton Nsiala. Those were our three and I could not do more so that is a pity. The two players who fall out because of that is Rafael Fernandes and Oscar Cortes.
“With Oscar it is the same story as with Danilo in the beginning of the season, he has been out for a long time. It will be more beneficial for him to have a good schedule and focus on that.”
