Many of them saw action across the continent as the UEFA Nations League got up and running, and they will now report back to Rangers ahead of Saturday’s game with Dundee United.
Indeed, that total of 15 is set to be higher next month with international matches set to take place around the world, and not just in UEFA territories.
Here’s how those 15 got on over the last week…
Croatia:
Saturday: Portugal 4-1 Croatia
Tuesday: France 4-2 Croatia
Borna started for Croatia on Saturday as they went down 4-1 away to Portugal, before he was on the bench for their 4-2 defeat to France last night.
Croatia will be looking for their first victory of League A3 when they host Sweden and the French in the next international window in October, as well as facing Cedric Itten’s Switzerland in a friendly match.
Finland:
Thursday: Finland 0-1 Wales
Sunday: Republic of Ireland 0-1 Finland
Glen started both of Finland’s Group B4 matches in the Nations League as they lost late-on to Wales on Thursday before winning superbly in Dublin on Sunday.
Kamara was the standout player in the latter match for the Finns, and next month, they have a friendly away to Poland and home matches with Bulgaria and the Irish.
Northern Ireland: &
Friday: Romania 1-1 Northern Ireland
Monday: Northern Ireland 1-5 Norway
Steven Davis started both of Northern Ireland’s Nations League, Group B1 fixtures, as they earned a super late draw away to Romania before suffering a heavy home loss at the hands of an Erling Haaland inspired Norway.
The second of those matches saw Davis match Pat Jennings’ all-time caps record for the Ulstermen of 119, and next month, he can surpass that as they face Bosnia away in their Euro 2020 play-off semi-final before hosting Austria and traveling to Norway in their next Nations League fixtures.
Jordan Jones, meanwhile was an unused sub in Bucharest before returning to Rangers with an injury, albeit Steven Gerrard yesterday confirmed this isn’t as bad as first feared.
Romania:
Friday: Romania 1-1 Northern Ireland
Monday: Austria 2-3 Romania
Ianis came up against Steven Davis in Romania’s 1-1 home draw with Northern Ireland on Friday before making the bench for their 3-2 win in Austria on Monday.
That leaves them top of their group, and next month, they have a home Euro 2020 play-off semi-final with Iceland before travelling in the Nations League to Norway and hosting the Austrians.
Scotland: , & Robby McCrorie
Friday: Scotland 1-1 Israel
Monday: Czech Republic 1-2 Scotland
Ryan Jack featured for Scotland in their 1-1 draw with Israel on Friday night, before switching to the bench alongside Jon McLaughlin and first-time call-up Robby McCrorie on Monday as the Scots won in the Czech Republic.
They are now building to their next match, a home Euro 2020 play-off semi-final with Israel on October 8 before hosting Slovakia and the Czech Republic in their next two Nations League matches.
Scotland U21: Nathan Patterson, Kieran Wright, Lewis Mayo, Glenn Middleton, Stephen Kelly, Ross McCrorie
Tuesday: Lithuania 0-1 Scotland
Scotland remain in with a wonderful chance of qualifying for next year’s UEFA Euro under-21 finals following a late but crucial 1-0 away win at Lithuania, in which Nathan Patterson made his debut at that level and was joined in the XI by Glenn Middleton and Ross McCrorie. Lewis Mayo later featured from the bench for his first appearance at that level.
The Scots are third in their group, four points behind the Czech Republic (whom they have a game in hand on) and three behind Greece, with the group winners automatically qualifying for the final tournament and the runners-up going into a play-off.
The Scots host the Czechs in a crunch match next month before travelling to San Marino.
Sweden:
Saturday: Sweden 0-1 France
Tuesday: Sweden 0-2 Portugal
Filip earned his 12th Swedish cap last night as they were defeated 2-0 at home to a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Portugal, as he claimed both goals.
He was on the bench for their 1-0 home reverse to World Champions France on Saturday, and next month, they face a friendly with Russia, and trips to Borna Barisic’s Croatia and Portugal in the Nations League.
