Rangers travel to the capital to take on Hearts in the second round at the Oriam on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their positive start to the season.
Speaking to RangersTV in the build-up as the Light Blues prepare to return to domestic action the head coach is expecting a tough contest in Edinburgh given their opponent’s recent showings.
She said: “We want to go as far as we can in every single competition, we want to win every game. We know that as Rangers staff and players that is our ultimate goal, but we don't take it for granted.
“We don't take it lightly, we know what Hearts can oppose, we know they are going to be full of confidence. They gave Celtic a really close run last time out, scored some really good goals early on, so it is a threat that we have got to be aware of.
“They have got some really good attacking players, so it is something that we have got to be wary of but as always we will look what we can do to punish them at the other side.”
Potter wants the side to carry on where they left off after an impressive three-game week before the international break but knows the squad have to wary given the nature of their win when the last time the sides met.
She continued: “I think it is important that we don't forget that, remember what we have done really well but refocus again. We know that it is going to be a very difficult game against Hearts so it is really important that when we get the players back and when everyone is back in together that we can re access and refocus and focus on what we need to do to beat them.”
“That is something that we do need to do a little bit more is as we have played a round of teams now we know what the other opposition can bring to us and I think it is learning from those previous games. Knowing what we need to do a little bit better in those games, because the opposition are going to be earring that to us as well. They are going to be learning from what we did in the previous game, it is just looking to adapt and evolve and staying with that process and keep trying to plug away.”
The former England international believes the members of the squad that were involved can use the experience of winning the trophy last season to hopefully have a deep run in the competition once again.
She added: “I think the winning mentality is huge, knowing what it means to win that cup, knowing what it feels to win that cup and trying to bring it. Trying to remember those feelings of standing up there on the podium lifting the cup that day, I think it is huge.
“Everybody has found memories of it but as I keep saying and banging on about it many times that it is a process to get there. We can't just be expecting to win, we can't just take teams lightly and Hearts is by no means an easy game and it is something we have got to concentrate on before we even look ahead to that.”
