The Light Blues take on Hamilton at Broadwood Stadium this Sunday in their final fixture of 2023 as they target a 14th win in succession and look to continue their fantastic form in the campaign to date.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the game the head coach has highlighted the importance of maintaining the position they find themselves in at the top of the SWPL table before they head into the winter break.
She commented: “It is important, we said this week to the players that we want to finish on a high. We want to maintain that top spot in the league. We will be looking to do what we always do.
“We want to put on a performance, we want to play well. We know it is going to be tough, which every single week it is. We are looking forward to it, it is exciting and hopefully we can finish the year on a high.”
“They [Hamilton] are better than what it shows. They have got some key threats and key players that we have had a look at, but we always focus on us. We always focus know what we want to do really well, we don't leave a stone unturned.
“The threat that Hamilton can pose that is something that we have worked on and hopefully we will nullify that threat.
“On the back of that is trying to really impose what we do really well and that is trying to make sure that we take ourselves to Hamilton. Enjoy the ball, create lots of chances and hopefully score some goals.”
The former Lioness has reflected on her time at the club so far as she looks back on her first six months in charge, as she described her spell in Glasgow as a ‘whirlwind’ experience.
She continued: “It feels like it has gone really quickly. I think in the last six months it has been a bit of a whirlwind. You don't really have time to sit back and reflect.
“Yes you have your international breaks and you try chip the season up as much as we can but it is a really good chance for us to sit back and have a look at what we have done, but also look ahead. We have done quite well up to know, but we know we also want to get better.
“We know there is things we do need to improve on and planning going forward. It is a really exciting time and the staff have all been brilliant for me at the start of this season and I hope the players can see the rewards that we have put in. Hopefully we can continue this good run of form.”
Potter says it is exciting times for the club with matches in both cup competitions to look forward to upon the return from the break in early January.
She added: “I think it is good. It is good for the players to have a little bit of a reset and recharge as well, get some good quality time with their family.
“It has been well earned, they have had an extremely tough start to the season and they have definitely earned some time away.
“You are straight back into it thick and fast. I think with the cup game at the start of the year they just then lead straight into a big game against Celtic in the cup as well. It is an exciting time, which also means they know they have got to work hard over Christmas as well.
“They will get a break but we have got to do some work still. I think it is important that they know where we're at and we have still got a bit of a carrot there to come back in and play well at the start of the year.”
