Propper Pleased With Today’s Clean Sheet

ROBIN PROPPER was pleased to play his part in a third clean sheet of the league campaign for Rangers and says there is more improvement to come from the Light Blues.

The Gers threatened to blow Dundee United away inside the opening half-hour this afternoon after Tom Lawrence opened the scoring inside five minutes.

But they struggled to find the clinical edge to double their advantage and were forced to deal with a renewed intensity from the home side in the second half.

And they duly stood up to the physical test, dealing with United’s aerial assault and securing a priceless return to winning ways.

Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, the Dutchman commented: “It’s back to winning ways and it was a difficult game away from home.

“We started really well. We played some good football and created some good chances. It was a really good goal from Tom Lawrence.

“You know if you don’t score the second goal then it can become more difficult in the second half, but I think we did well.

“They never created a lot of chances against us.

“We knew we had to do a lot of things.

“We wanted to control the tempo and create chances. We have a lot of quality, we scored a good goal and had other chances which was good to see.”

It is a little over a month since Propper arrived at the club and his influence on the team is increasing week-by-week.

The Dutchman insists his relationship is continuing to grow with his fellow defenders.

He added: “It is nice to keep a clean sheet. It is so important in football and as a defender you don’t want to give away many chances.

“I think we handled their threat very well and we were defensively sound.

“I feel my relationship with the defence is growing. You have to get better every week.

“I am training and playing with these guys and I feel the rhythm is coming.

“We are still looking to improve in the coming weeks and we want to show people that.”

On the prospect of returning to Ibrox next weekend, Propper says he’s relishing his first Ibrox experience as a Rangers player: “I am finally getting to play at Ibrox.

“It was nice to see so many Rangers fans at the game cheering for us.

“I have never experienced that in Holland and it was nice to give them something back.

“Now we are looking to give them something to cheer about at Ibrox next week.”
