It’s a super line-up for the Light Blues against the sides which finished second in the Portuguese league, fifth in the Belgian league and second in the Polish league last season.
Despite the rich history both Rangers and Benfica have, it will be the first ever meeting of the two, and it will mean a trip for the Light Blues to the massively impressive Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, where this year’s rearranged Champions League final was held.
Gers last faced Standard Liege in the European Cup back in the quarter-finals of the 1961-62 European Cup where a 4-1 defeat away from home in the first leg was almost overturned by Gers as they won 2-0 in the second leg.
The match with Lech Poznan will also be a first for Rangers, though they will be the fifth different Polish opponent with Gers having previously faced Gornik Zabrze, GKS Katowice, Amica Wronki and Legia Warsaw.
The impact of Covid-19 means the six ties will be played over a significantly shorter period of time this season, with the provisional dates for those as follows:
