Rangers To Continue With Fan Round-Table Sessions

RANGERS FC will continue its programme of fan round-table sessions following two open and constructive meetings held last month with supporters.

The sessions, attended by Andrew Cavenagh, Patrick Stewart, Kevin Thelwell and members of the supporter engagement team, covered a wide range of topics including results, reputation, player development, recruitment and fan relations.

The sessions included members from the Fan Advisory Board, Rangers Supporters Association, Union Bears, Copland Collective, Oceania Rangers Supporters Association, European Rangers Supporters Association, Disability Matters and Ibrox Pride, along with representatives from fan media and several Rangers Supporters Clubs.

Supporters spoke openly about the club’s recent challenges, asking why things didn’t work under Russell Martin and whether the timing of the change was right.

The leadership team explained the thinking behind the decision, the recruitment process that followed, and how Danny Röhl was chosen. Fans were given insight into the qualities the club looked for in a Head Coach and why Röhl’s energy, experience, coaching ability and personality were seen as the right fit for Rangers at this stage.

There was further discussion about the wider football strategy, including how scouting, data and coaching input all contribute to recruitment decisions. Supporters asked about the balance within the current squad, leadership in the dressing room and how new players are adapting to the pressure of playing for Rangers.

The conversation covered the club’s player trading strategy, the impact of our new players, and the continued importance of the academy pathway. We also discussed lessons learned since the ownership change and the importance of building a stable, sustainable foundation for future success.

The group then reflected on the club’s identity and culture. Supporters discussed how Rangers is perceived publicly, the values and standards that define the club, and how transparency and accountability can help build trust moving forward.

Greig Mailer, Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, who also attended the sessions said: “It’s important that we keep talking with and listening to our supporters, not just when things are going well but when there are challenges too. The tone of these sessions was really constructive. It felt like everyone involved got something from them. Ultimately everyone involved just wants what’s best for Rangers.

“We want to open up opportunities for other fans not connected with different fan groups to get involved, so a number of places at each session will be available through a ballot for fans who’d like to take part. We also plan to run online sessions to make sure fans who live further afield can join the discussion.”

The fan round-table sessions will continue throughout the season and will complement the more formal Fan Advisory Board meetings, which take place every two months and focus on structured, strategic topics.

The next FAB meeting is scheduled for this week, and the aim will be to host round-table sessions in the alternating months, ensuring a consistent and ongoing dialogue between the club and supporters.

We thank everyone who took part in the discussions for their honesty and input and we remain committed to open communication and continued engagement with supporters as we move forward together.
