As part of the club’s extensive recruitment plan, overseen by Sporting Director Ross Wilson, manager Steven Gerrard and the club’s experienced and extensive recruitment team, pre-contracts signed by defender Jack Simpson and attacker Scott Wright have been transformed into permanent deals, with both joining the club on Monday night.
Nnamdi Ofoborh will join the club in the summer from Bournemouth, while going in the other direction, Glenn Middleton, Jordan Jones, George Edmundson and Brandon Barker have departed on-loan to St Johnstone, Sunderland, Derby County and Oxford United respectively.
Boss Gerrard spoke at his press conference yesterday on the new signings, and explained to the media: "I think the window was really positive for us in-terms of getting the two boys done and dusted.
"Three of the boys went out over the last couple of days as well to play valuable minutes for themselves, so it has been a pretty positive window for us."
Simpson was first in the door for Gerrard and Gers last night, and the manager explained on him: "He is a player who I have been aware of for some time and I have followed him quite a bit through the England setup.
"I really like the way he goes about his business - he is six-foot-four, a left-sided defender and is comfortable in possession in-terms of building out and that is how we like to play.
"He is aggressive, I think his mobility has improved over the years and I think he has really taken that part of his game and improved on that.
"He is a player who is really hungry and has been frustrated with his gametime so far. So we are getting a player at a good time, at a good stage, and he is really excited to be here.
"It is great to have him finally in the door and we are getting him three or four months ahead of the time that we thought.
"That is a bonus for me."
Scott Wright followed Simpson not too long afterwards from Aberdeen, with the manager continuing: "He can be a big player tomorrow if he wants to be. Just because we have both of these signings in now rather than the summer doesn't mean they can't contribute from now until the end of the season.
"Every game is crucially important so the plan is for them, and the reason we have worked so hard to get them now in this window, is they have got a part to play from now until the summer.
"They want to help us to make this season a success, so we are excited to have them and really looking forward to working with both players."
Nnamdi Ofoborh will arrive at Gers in the summer, and last night, joined Championship Wycombe Wanderers on-loan until the end of the season.
Gerrard added on him: "Nnamdi Ofoborh's situation was slightly different to the other two boys in the regard that we had players that wanted to go out on loan, for example, Jordan Jones and Brandon Barker left [on Monday] and a few days ago, so it was important we got Scott Wright done as he plays in a similar position to the boys.
"George Edmundson wanted to go and explore the Derby situation so it was important we got Jack done.
"Nnamdi is one we have identified to come into the group in the summer, but we are really fine in-terms of the number, the quality and the availability in the midfielders we have got right now, so it didn't make sense to push that one right now.
"But he is certainly a player we are excited about and looking forward to working with.
"He's another young talent we want to bring in and develop and improve, but we are really excited for that one nonetheless.
"So it was a really positive window for us in-terms of incomings - three or four of the boys have gone out to get game time and we hope they go and enjoy their experience and come back in the summer in a better place.
"I am really happy with how [Monday] and the window went for us, and I must pay my respects to Ross Wilson and how he went about it, and the board for their continued support.
"It puts us in a stronger place moving forward."
