RANGERS Women will continue their European campaign next month after securing a place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.
Leanne Crichton’s side hosted their UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying mini-tournament earlier this month, alongside Ajax, Brøndby and Slavia Praha.
The Light Blues produced an impressive result in their opening match, defeating Slavia Praha 2-1 after extra-time to book their place in the final. There, Rangers faced Ajax and narrowly missed out on progression in the UEFA Women’s Champions League following a 2-1 defeat.
That result saw Rangers finish as runners-up in the mini-tournament and transfer into the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup at the second qualifying round stage.
The UEFA Women’s Europa Cup is a straight knockout competition, with each round played over two legs.
The first qualifying round will conclude on Wednesday, 2 September, before Rangers discover their second qualifying round opponents when the draw takes place on Friday, 4 September.
The two legs are scheduled for Wednesday, 23 September and Wednesday, 30 September, with the draw also determining whether Rangers are at home or away in the first leg.
Rangers are unlikely to be seeded in the draw, with the line-up for the round also including the winners from the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup first qualifying round and clubs transferring from the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying pathway.
Current plans are for Rangers’ home leg to be played at Broadwood Stadium.
